Welcome to language exploration at Waukee Middle School! Sixth graders learn to understand and
speak some basic words and phrases in the German and Spanish languages and students also explore the history, geography and
culture of countries where German or Spanish is spoken.
Trip to Germany
In March 2007, 16 students from Prairieview School in Waukee traveled to Dortmund, Germany to complete the
exchange with our sister school, the Geschwister-Scholl-Gesamtschule in Dortmund. Students stayed with host families, visited
school, and toured historical and scenic places around Dortmund, as well as in Frankfurt, along the Rhine River, and in Germany's
capital city, Berlin.
